Honoring Mother’s Day: A Tribute to Peace, Purpose & the Divine Feminine...

"Your ordinary acts of love and hope point to the extraordinary promise that every human life is of inestimable value."
- Desmond Tutu

Greetings!

Soon we will celebrate Mother’s Day, so, Happy Mother’s Day to everyone! I love the fact that Mother’s Day actually began as a proclamation for a Mother’s Day for Peace. Julia Ward was the organizing force behind the movement, and though she is best known for writing the Battle Hymn of the Republic, she was much, much more than that. She opposed slavery as a radical abolitionist and strongly supported a women’s right to vote. She was also very moved by the death and destruction that she witnessed as a war correspondent, so she made her life’s work promoting Peace and Equality through her writing and speaking tours. In 1870, Julia tried to organize women across the world to come together to oppose war and commit to finding peaceful resolutions to conflicts. However, it was not until 1914, that President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed the first National Mother’s Day. So, it took time and patience for this consciousness to come into being, and I am saddened that war and state violence is an ongoing threat.

It is important to remember, however, that promoting peace is not only about ending conflict between entities or nations; it is also about cultivating it within. To the degree that we experience our own inner peace, is how well we can fully share it with others. Truly immerse yourself in the love and light that is the creative force of the universe of which you are a unique and integrated part. Hold the belief and understanding that this is our birthright and perhaps even our duty. Echart Tolle is a great contemporary thought leader. In his book, "The Power of Now", he wrote, “You are here to enable the divine purpose of the Universe to unfold. That is how important you are!” What a powerful call to action! It allows our karmic purpose to be revealed through cosmic consciousness and connection.

So, honor your own creation, your own awe-inspiring existence. And on this Mother's Day and, for that matter, throughout your life, honor The Mother: The physical being that brought you into this world and/or who raised you into adulthood. And also honor the Divine Mother: the energetic manifestation of birth, creation, nurturing, compassion, and love without beginning or end. Our planet and all that live on it depends on our turning things around. So... no pressure!

For the benefit of all beings...
