Karma is an often-misunderstood principle surrounding the idea that you get what you deserve. However, I prefer to think of it as life giving you the opportunities you need to learn and evolve. It is a subtle difference that touches on an approach to our encounters with an invitation. Being open allows us to lessen resistance to life situations that we deem unpleasant or unwanted. The concept of a spiritual warrior is not one who dons, but rather one who removes his or her armor. If we are building a wall around our vulnerabilities, then we are closing ourselves off to being of service to ourselves and others. Karma gives us reminders and teachings in order to understand what is needed to tear down the walls. So, when life provides situations that we resist and reject, try and soften your stance and see if there is an internal shift that can be made. Often, simply dropping the resistance to what is, brings us to a wellspring of inner peace.
