"When health is absent, wisdom cannot reveal itself, art cannot become manifest, strength cannot be exerted, wealth is useless, and reason is powerless." Herophilus (300 B.C.)
The writing above validates that in our journey of self-discovery, health and wellbeing has been at the forefront of our awareness for centuries. Currently, however, the corporate class society emphasizes "humans doing" rather than "humans being." Success is defined not by a quality of life, but rather by what you are willing (or forced) to sacrifice. This has created a culture with too many of us experiencing depression, disease and addiction. I do feel that there is a movement asking for leadership to shift conditions. To address greed and corruption in order for humanity to exist while reversing harm to ourselves, other living beings, and our shared environment. While we can support this movement, it is equally as important to pursue our personal well-being. Find time for meditation, positive food choices, and play. It doesn't have to be a big deal! Simple improvements can create new neural pathways that release self-limiting beliefs and habits.
Remember to prioritize self-love and acceptance about who and where you are at this moment. As Pema Chödrön wrote, "...change can be a subtle form of aggression..." so be aware of this and make whatever you address a loving evolutionary experience.
For the benefit of all beings...
